For the first time this year, my reading goal was manageable enough to accomplish. I read two books! But, of course, they were two very different books, and I’m still contemplating all that I absorbed. So, now that I know I can easily read two books per month, I will be adding more books progressively in the coming months.
So here’s what I read:
- Communion, The female search for love by bell hooks – I absolutely loved this book. So many gems and thought-provoking lines. Quite simply a must-read. I’m still getting all my thoughts together, but be on the lookout for my review.
- Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson – This book is popular on Instagram, but I have mixed feelings after reading it. I participated in two virtual book clubs and had the pleasure of meeting the author in one of them. Keep an eye out on my page for this review!

lol, it might be more of a negative review than mixed, but coming soon. If you get around to her, I would start with the love trilogy.

So far, the reviews I’ve seen on Instagram are either the person loved it or disliked it. I haven’t seen much in between.
